The Alleged HTC One M9 Plus Handset Gets Benchmarked; 2K Display And A 64-Bit MediaTek SoC In Tow

HTC has already confirmed that they’ll hold an event on March 1st as part of Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, the same day Samsung will unveil their Galaxy S6 flagship. HTC is set to announce the One (M9) at that event, and the One (M9) Plus was also rumored several times before. We’ve seen a ton of info regarding the One (M9) lately, but not much has leaked regarding its “Plus” counterpart. Well, it seems like this device has hit CompuBench recently.

The device that was benchmarked carries the “HTC 0PK71″ codename, and it features a QuadHD (2560 x 1440) resolution display, the rumored resolution of the rumored HTC One (M9) Plus handset. Anyhow, let’s check out its specification, shall we. This device will feature a 5.1-inch QuadHD display, as already mentioned, along with 3GB of RAM for all your multitasking needs and 32GB of internal storage it seems. What seems a bit surprising here, is the fact this device won’t be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chip, but a MediaTek SoC instead. According to the listing, MediaTek’s MT6795 64-bit octa-core processor will power on this device along with PowerVR Rogue G6200 GPU for graphics. Don’t be fooled though, this seems like a really powerful chip, at least according to the available info, even though the Galaxy Note 4’s Snapdragon 805 proved as a better performer in the benchmarks below (keep in mind that the benchmarked HTC device might be a prototype device though). 20-megapixel camera will be located on the back of this device, and a 13-megapixel snapper will be available up front, which many selfie lovers will probably appreciate. Android 5.0 Lollipop is also listed here, and HTC’s Sense UI will be installed on top of Google’s operating system for sure.

There you have it folks. This seems like the rumored HTC One (M9) Plus, and we’ll find out soon if that’s the case or not. The processor seems a bit surprising here, especially considering some rumors were touting the Qualcomm chip to power on this device. Everything will be revealed in less than two weeks, and we might get more info before the launch event. Either way, stay tuned, and let us know if you think this is the HTC One (M9) Plus or not.
