The Alleged 2,600mAh Galaxy S6 Battery Pops Up In China

Leaked Galaxy S6 battery_1

Samsung will unveil their newest flagship, the Galaxy S6, at the company’s Unpacked event on March 1st as part of MWC (Mobile World Congress) in Barcelona. We’ve seen tons of rumors and leaks regarding this handset, and Samsung has been teasing the device for quite some time now. One of those rumors claimed that the device will ship with a 2,600mAh battery on the inside, which sounds odd at first, but is quite believable if you consider that the power-efficient Exynos 7420 is said to power on this handset.

Some more proof surfaced giving some more credit to that battery rumor. An image surfaced on Weibo (Chinese social network) showing off Samsung-branded 2,600mAh battery inside a Chinese battery factory. The model number imprinted on these batteries is “EB-BG925ABE”, while the alleged Galaxy S6 Edge codename is SM-925X, it’s quite possible we’ll see these batteries inside both the Galaxy S6 and the curved screen Galaxy S6 Edge which is also rumored to be released alongside Samsung’s newest flagship. The person who shared this picture also left the comment “Galaxy S6 battery”.

Now, let’s get back to the Exynos 7420 part. This battery pack is way too small for basically every flagship out there today, but it might be enough for the Galaxy S6. Samsung’s Exynos 7420 SoC is said to power on this handset, and we’re talking about a 14nm chip, first of its kind in the mobile market. This SoC is said to be 30-35% more power-efficient than its 20nm counterparts like the Snapdragon 810. That processor is also a powerhouse, at least if benchmarks are to be believed. This rumors is not that hard to believe, though there’s no way we can confirm any of this is true at this point, take it all with a pinch of salt, as usual when it comes to rumors.

The Galaxy S6 is rumored to feature a 5 or a 5.1-inch QuadHD Super AMOLED display, 4GB of RAM and an incredibly fast-charging battery. Samsung has been teasing the Galaxy S6’s performance, battery life and the charging capabilities of the device through various teaser over the last couple of days. Anyhow, do you think that this handset will sport the 2,600mAh battery in the end, or will Samsung opt for a bigger unit?
