Do you remember Asus’ ZenFone 2 that was unveiled during this year’s CES (Consumer Electronics Show)? That is a really solid and yet affordable device, $199 for a very well-specced phone is never bad, right? We’re talking about a 5-inch model of the device here, not the 5.5-inch 1080p version that has been leaking quite frequently lately. The company didn’t even mention the bigger variant of the device during CES. Well, the 5.5-inch variant of ZenFone 2 is now listed on AliExpress and is even available for pre-order, which could indicate that Asus will unveil this thing at MWC (Mobile World Congress) in Barcelona next month, or perhaps even sooner than that. Previous report said that the device will be powered by Intel’s processor (though the Qualcomm and MediaTek variants were also mentioned), and it seems that the info was accurate. This AliExpress listing also revealed the whole spec sheet for this device, let’s check it out.
According to AliExpress’ listing, this device will come in two variants (RAM difference). The handset will feature a 5.5-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) IPS display with Corning’s Gorilla Glass 3 protection on top of it along with 2 or 4GB of RAM for all your multitasking needs and 64GB of internal storage. The listing also mentions that the SoC manufacturer is Intel and that the device will ship with a 3,000mAh Battery on the inside. 13-megapixel camera will be located at the back of this handset, while a front-facing shooter is mentioned, but the listing doesn’t say which sensor will be used there. Android 5.0 Lollipop will come pre-installed on this device with Asus’ skin on top of it, of course. This handset will offer dual-SIM capability and will measure 152.5 x 77.2 x 10.9mm. PowerVR G6430 GPU chip for graphics is also listed, and we’re talking about a ZE551ML device model here.
This is the first full listing of this device that we’ve seen, and it really seems like it might launch during MWC in Barcelona next month, though it’s of course possible Asus might pull the trigger before then, but that’s highly unlikely at this point. The 2GB variant of the device is listed for $299, while the 4GB variant of this handset can be pre-ordered for $440. Your thoughts?
