As you all know by now, HTC will announce the company’s new flagship on March 1st as part of MWC (Mobile World Congress) in Barcelona. We’ve seen many leaks and rumors about the upcoming HTC One (M9) handset, as it’s one of the most anticipated smartphones of the year. The HTC One (M9) Plus has also been rumored and might even launch alongside the One (M9) at the very same event, but nothing is confirmed yet. That’s not the only HTC-branded device that is talked about these days though, the Butterfly 3 handset has also been mentioned several times by now, and we do have some new leaked information to share with you regarding that handset.
According to @upleaks, the Butterfly 3 will launch sometime in the second half of this year, so don’t expect to see it unveiled soon. The same source recently reported that the device will feature a 5.2-inch QuadHD (2560 x 1440) display, which means it will be 0.2-inches bigger than the one on its predecessor. If this leak is accurate, the display will also be higher in resolution, the Butterfly 2’s display was a 1080p unit. That’s not all that @upleaks had to share this time around though, he also mentioned that HTC will announce their new tablet in second or third quarter this year, somewhere between April and September. We haven’t heard much about this device though, but it might be a device similar to the currently available Nexus 9 which is also manufactured by this Taiwan-based smartphone OEM.
That’s it, it seems like HTC has big plans for this year which are expected to help the company sell more devices and, therefore, earn more cash this year. We’ll let you know as soon as we get additional details on both the Butterfly 3 and the rumored HTC-branded tablet.
