Huawei has announced two new devices just a couple of days ago, the Honor 6 Plus and Honor 4X handsets. Honor 6 Plus definitely took the spotlight at Huawei’s event considering the fact this is a truly powerful device and it’s not that expensive either, which is a bit odd for Huawei, but it seems the company realized that they have to keep their pricing as low as possible in order to compete with other manufacturers in China. We’ve covered both of these handsets at length already, so check those articles out if you’re interested.
We’re here to talk about a new device by Huawei which got certified by TENAA (China’s equivalent of the FCC) recently, SC-CL00 aka Ascend GX1. According to the listing, this handset will feature a huge 6-inch 720p (1280 x 720) display, which is a shame, 1080p would be a perfect fit for such a big display, but Huawei is obviously aiming to hit the mid-range market with this device. 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage will also come with this device, while you’ll be able to expand its internal storage via MicroSD card. This thing will be powered by a 1.4GHz quad-core processor, the listing doesn’t reveal its manufacturer, but I’ll guess MediaTek’s chip will be included in this device. 8-megapixel camera will be located at the back of this thing while you’ll be able to find a 2-megapixel snapper on its front side. Android 4.4.2 KitKat will come pre-installed on this device with Huawei’s Emotion UI on top of it. Ascend GX1 will measure 161 x 84.5 x 9.55mm, which is even bigger than company’s Ascend Mate 7 handset which they announced earlier this year. This phablet will support GSM / CDMA 1X / CDMA2000 / LTE FDD / TD-LTE network, though this might change by the time Huawei launches this thing. If you take a look below this article, you’ll notice TENAA’s Ascend GX1 images along with some additional leaked images of this device which compare it to Huawei’s Ascend Mate 7 handset.
The device will allegedly cost around 1,590 Yuan, which is about $255, which might be a good fit for those of you who live in China and are looking for a huge mid-range device. Considering the fact this device got certified by TENAA, it shouldn’t take long for Huawei to launch it, so stay tuned, we’ll let you know when that happens.
