Top Android Homescreen October 3rd Edition: Material V2

With it being Nexus season and all, and with more and more apps taking on the Material Design approach, we thought it fitting that this weeks homescreen pick had some Material Design flare as well. In fact, this weeks pick is called Material V2 and has a very materialistic look about it. In a good way of course. There’s plenty of color pop here, with bright vivid color displays, and just about everything you might need right at your fingertips. As with all our homescreen picks, you’ll need a few things to recreate this look, and we’ll go over what you to grab, and how you can set this homescreen look up for yourself.

Material V2 was created by David Lopez Pitoko, and he used a selection of different apps to get this design. First, you’ll need a third party home launcher. Pitoko mentions Nova Prime as the launcher he used, although you should be able to recreate it using Apex pro as well. You’ll also need Zooper Pro for the widgets, as well as media utilities to control the media buttons that are part of the widget. As far as apps go those are the only three you need. Pretty simple right? You’ll also need the download files of course, which you can pick up from Pitoko’s G+ post, and you can find the link to that at the mycolorscreen page for this homescreen which is listed in the source below. Once you have all the apps and files you need installed and downloaded onto your device, you’ll need to make sure that you have the homescreen grid size set to 6 x 6, and be sure to hide the dock and the navigation bar down at the bottom. Make sure that you have three homescreen pages, set your scroll effect to the wipe option(which is probably a Nova Prime specific transition effect)and place one widget on each screen and make sure they take up the whole display.

If you like the look of this homescreen, be sure to show David Pitoko some appreciation by hitting the love button over at the mycolorscreen page, and zoom on the picture on the mycolorscreen page as well. Have fun customizing and have a great weekend!
