Google+ for Android Gets updated with More Materials

SAMSUNG CSC

Today, it appears that the Google+ team is pushing out a new update for the Google+ for Android App. We’ve got a few changes here compared to the old app. But nothing too big. This is version 4.6, and we’re seeing a bit more material design elements in here, which we’d expect with Android L coming really soon. There is a new launcher icon which matches Google’s other material design launcher icons like Google Play Newsstand for one. The red bar at the top is now a bit brighter, and not as dark. Additionally, the floating “new post” icon at the bottom right is now inverted. It used to be a white circle with a red pen, and now it’s a red circle with a white pen. Google+ font is also a bit more bold (but that depends on the device you’re using).

Additionally the Google Photos app also got a nice update. It’s got a bit more material design inside than we thought it would. But it is nice to see that finally get an update. It’s been without one for quite some time. They’ve also added an Auto-Awesome button to the toolbar on the Google+ Photos app which is a bit surprising, but also cool at the same time.

The staged rollout has already started. So it may be a few weeks before it hits your device. But don’t worry, we’ve got the APK down below for you. So if you’re interested in getting the update on your device now. Just head to the link below. Remember that this will upgrade your current version of Google+. You’ll also need to have “Unknown Sources” checked in the Settings > Security menu of your device.

How many of you are excited for all these Material Design updates to start going live? Let us know in the comments down below.
