The Nexus 6? Nexus X? Or is it the Nexus 5 (2014)? Who knows. We’ve seen all three names leak out over the past few weeks. This latest leak comes from @emtleaks, and it’s tough for us to say this is legit or not. But we have seen a rumor of a 5.2-inch Nexus, and this benchmark does show those 5.2-inch specs. So it could possibly be true. According to this benchmark, it appears to be a 5.2-inch 2560×1440 resolution Quad HD display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor clocked at 2.7GHz, 3GB of RAM, and 32GB of storage. There’s also a 12-megapixel camera with a 2-megapixel front-facing camera on board. The most interesting part? Android 5.0 Lion. Yes, it says Lion, and not Lemon Meringue Pie, or even Lollipop.
Given the past names of Android versions, it’s hard for us to believe that this is true, as every other version of Android was named after a desert. Like Eclair, Froyo, Gingerbread, Honeycomb, Ice Cream Sandwich, Jelly Bean and KitKat. But to go to a cat, for Android L is a bit weird. And that’s what Apple did with OS X up until last year when they started going with names of places in California like Mavericks and Yosemite.
As far as how legit this is, I would say all of it is legit, except for probably the name of the operating system. Or maybe Google is partnering with Disney and Lion King? I wouldn’t put it past them though. The specs seem to be right on target this year, and I’d definitely like to see a 32GB and 64GB models instead of 16GB and 32GB models from Google. We’ll be learning more about the Nexus 5 (2014) or whatever it’s called in the next few weeks as we’re expecting it to be released next month with Android L.
