Early Moto 360 prototypes look uglier than expected

Early tests may prove the Moto 360 certainly has its defects, but no device has yet to beat its good looks (at least that’s what most techies believe). The Moto 360 wasn’t always meant to be the gorgeous, circular smartwatch made with premium materials. It turns out early prototypes were quite ugly!

New images show the Moto 360 early designs included square screens with rounded edges, sporting straps that were less than attractive. These were mostly made of plastic and what looks like rubber, far inferior in quality compared to the leather and metal the final design sports. The thicker bezels and bulky designs also didn’t help the previous versions of the Moto 360.

By the way – remember that little piece right under the Moto 360′s screen? Yes, the one all of us were going nuts and filing complaints about. It holds sensors and other necessary components. Motorola didn’t always have that little part in mind, and the Moto 360 could have carried a perfectly round display instead.

The catch is the bezel would have increased by massive proportions. The image below showcases what could have been a perfectly circular Moto 360. I certainly won’t be complaining much about that black area after seeing the image below! The prototype looks similar to the LG G Watch R, but LG manages to hide the thicker bezel with the design and time markings.

The Moto 360 definitely came a long way since its inception. It’s now one of the best-looking smartwatches around. You can take a better look at it in our hands-on posts (one is from Google IO and one from IFA). Who is buying one?
