Both Samsung and HTC have already announced their flagship devices for 2015. The two companies have announced their handsets on March 1st as part of the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona. We’re still going to see a lot of great hardware this year though, many smartphone OEMs still have to announce their flagships this year, including LG. Many reports have been stating that this Korean company will announce the G4 in April, and the company has released the details regarding the announcement for us to take a look at.
After a ton of rumors and some leaks, LG has announced that they’ll unveil their new flagship at the end of April. LG is using the “See The Great, Feel The Great” tagline for this event teaser / invitation. Looking at the details of the image itself, we can see that the company will unveil the device on April 28th in New York, London and Paris. This Korea-based company will announce the handset in Seoul, Singapore and Istanbul as well a day later, on April 29th. We’ll surely see a ton of rumors and leaks by the time LG announces this handset, but at least we have a release date now. The announcement is less than a month away, let’s see what LG have up their sleeve.
What do we know thus far? Well, not much. There were some rumors and leaks though, let’s try to make some sense out of all that. The alleged LG G4 smartphone did appear on GFXBench recently though, and was surprisingly running the Snapdragon 808 SoC. As you all probably know by now, Snapdragon 810 was talked about a lot over the past couple of weeks, some OEMs were saying that the processor is getting hotter than it should, and Qualcomm kind of admitted that when they compared the Snapdragon 810 to the unreleased Snapdragon 815 in order to prove how cooler the upcoming SoC is. Despite some claims, it was logical to assume that LG will be powered by the Snapdragon 810, but that might not be the case.
As far as other specs go, the benchmark revealed a 5.5-inch QuadHD (2560 x 1440) display, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. The aforementioned Snapdragon 808 is a hexa-core processor, and according to the benchmark it will be clocked at 1.8GHz. This SoC ships with an Adreno 418 GPU which will be in charge of graphics rendering. 16-megapixel snapper will be located on the back of this handset according to the benchmark, and an 8-megapixel shooter will be available up front.
