Apple Said To Be Working On New In-House Designed Beats Streaming Music App For Android

AH Beats Musci 1.0

Smartphone users have no shortage of music streaming services available to them, and sometime in the near future there is slated to be a new contender in the mix which will compete with the current top streaming services available. We’re talking about the Apple branded Beats streaming music service that was announced last year some time after Apple acquired Beats. Rumors started to flow that Apple would be redesigning the music streaming service application and that they would be releasing an Android compatible version of the app in which to replace the current existing one.

This app once launched will be completely developed and designed in-house by Apple, and although there is yet to be a release date or a name for the service(rumored launch dates are set for June now)there are some details that have been divulged about what it will offer and what sort of features it will carry. For starters, it will continue to stay a subscription based service but according to the source it’s possible that the price point will drop from the current pricing of Beats $9.99 a month model to $7.99, in an attempt to be competitive with other services like Google Play Music, Spotify, Rdio and others which offer services for $9.99 a month.

Aside from the Apple design and a competitive subscription fee, it’s stated that Apple’s Beats music service will offer features that we find are actually quite similar to that of Google Play Music All Access, like human-curated playlists and mixes. These are currently part of the Beats music service and Apple will reportedly be carrying these over to the new application, giving users the opportunity to stream tunes based off of certain activities they may be doing. Users will also reportedly be able to use the app’s new search filter to find songs and either stream them or add them into their own music library. We’re not sure if this will be an Android available feature or not as we’d expect the songs saved to library would be integrated into one’s iTunes library which of course is not available to the Android platform. It might seem strange that we’ll be seeing an Apple designed and owned application on Android, but according to Tim Cook, Apple would have no issue with releasing an app for Android users and that they would do so if it made sense for them. Android has a much larger market share than Apple and they have many more users so keeping the app on Android is a smart move for them. If you currently use Beats or are interested in trying this new service out, look out for it to sometime closer to the summer.
