Samsung’s profits plummeted in 2014, and the company wants to get back on the right track in 2015. Don’t get me wrong, this Korean giant is still the number one smartphone vendor in the world, but their profits dipped almost 30% compared to 2013. These are, of course, bad results for the company and Samsung wants to change that. They altered the design of their smartphones by including metal in their build, it all started with the Galaxy Alpha, and Galaxy Note 4, Note Edge, A3, A5 and A7 used the same design language afterwards.
The Galaxy S6 is one of the most most expected devices of the year, and this handset will be a crucial device for the company in 2015, at least in my humble opinion. We’ve been hearing all kinds of reports regarding the S6, one of which stated that the company plans to introduce two versions of the device, a regular version and one with a curved, cascading screen on the sides. This, of course, reminds me of the Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Edge comparison, but according to most of these reports, one of the S6 version will have a curved screen on both sides, unlike the Note Edge which has a curve only on one side. I already said that I don’t see a point in this, but the Note Edge seems rather popular and I guess it does bring a layer of usability to the table, as long as you can hold it properly and get used to the design.
Well, according to Business Insider, Samsung is preparing two new, highly important devices for a launch at MWC in Barcelona, which will take place in March. One of them will allegedly come with a unibody metal design, while the other version is a real mystery at this point, we can only guess what will it look like and what functions will it offer. Samsung has something else planned for MWC it seems, previous reports said that the company is working on a round smartwatch, and it seems like this watch might be unveiled on MWC as well alongside the Galaxy S6.
An earlier report claimed that Samsung is going to completely redesign the S6, and is calling the development of this handset “Project Zero”. That would be nice, though I doubt Samsung will re-design the phone’s hardware all that much, same goes for the software, but I really do hope I’m wrong. This Korea-based smartphone manufacturer certainly has the finances and know-how to create something great, we’ll see if they actually do that though. Thoughts?
