Samsung’s Gear S is coming to US carriers in the next few weeks

After numerous rumors that Samsung would release a “Gear Solo” watch that had its own 3GB capabilities and was more than just a companion watch, the Gear S was finally unveiled just ahead of IFA — though it has yet to actually hit the North American market. So when will the watch actually arrive in the US, and which carriers will support it? Samsung has now revealed the Gear S will arrive to all four major US carriers this fall.

As for specific dates, only AT&T has piped up and revealed that it will offer the watch nationwide on September 26th. More than likely other carriers will offer the watch around the same window, so late-September or early-October (though that’s just speculation on our part). Unfortunately there doesn’t seem to be any word on pricing just yet.

Turning to the specs, the Gear S is powered by a dual-core 1GHz processor with 512MB RAM, 4GB storage, a heart rate monitor and runs on Tizen as opposed to Android. The main calls to fame for the watch are its abilities to make calls and receive texts like a phone, and its curved design that stands out from other smartwatch offerings out there (though it’s somewhat akin to the Gear Fit).

What do you think, intrigued by the Gear S? How much would you be willing to pay for Samsung’s stand-alone smartwatch?
