Moto S’ Alleged Back Cover Surfaces

AH-Motorola-Logo-1.3

Motorola was quite active recently when it comes to the mobile market. They announced four new products at their event in Chicago earlier this month, second-gen Moto X and Moto G smartphones along with the long-awaited Moto 360 Android Wear-powered smartwatch and a Moto Hint Bluetooth headset. Aside from that we’ve heard tons of rumors about a Motorola-made Moto S device codenamed “Shamu”. There was some talk this will be Motorola’s new phablet device and possibly a new Nexus device as well.

We’ve seen Motorola DROID Turbo back panels leaked recently and now we get yet another Motorola back panel, this time it allegedly belongs to Moto S, courtesy of HelloMotoHK. If you take a look at the image below you’ll see 3 back panels, the one on the left belongs to second-gen Moto G, the one in the middle to second-gen Moto X and the one on the right is reportedly Moto S’ back panel. You can see that it is significantly bigger than the other two and it could fit the bill considering the Moto S is rumored to sport a 5.9-inch screen. We’re still not sure what specifications will this device

We’re still not sure what specifications will this device feature, but the rumors point to a 5.9-inch QHD (2560 x 1440) display along with 3GB of RAM. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 805 processor will allegedly power this device along with an Adreno 420 GPU. 13-megapixel camera is said to be the device’s main shooter while a 2.1-megapixel camera will reportedly be featured up front.

There’s a lot of confusion present when it comes to this device. We’ve seen rumors / reports stating that the device will come in both 5.2-inch (which even popped up on AnTuTu benchmarks) and 5.9-inch variants. Some rumors are saying this will be a Nexus device, others negate that and some say 5.2-inch Moto S is, in fact, a Nexus device and a 5.9-inch model will be Motorola’s phablet offering. We can only guess at this point, though this device (these devices) is due to arrive in the coming weeks and Motorola is probably the manufacturer of the upcoming Nexus smartphone, so I guess at least one of these devices is a Nexus phone. What do you think?
