Yesterday reports surfaced indicating Samsung was planning to accelerate availability for the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 in response to the sales success Apple is experiencing with the new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6+. The first step of this new plan is to release the Galaxy Note 4 to the Korean market starting this Friday, September 26th. New comments from Samsung President DJ Lee indicate the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge will not be subject to a similar acceleration of availability.
Lee’s comments actually indicate the Galaxy Note Edge is still seen by Samsung as a “limited edition concept” that may be seen as somewhere between a beta product and a full-fledged product for the company. The rollout of the Galaxy Note Edge will vary around the globe starting in late October and then following over several months. The comments from Lee seem to suggest that part of the rollout schedule may be determined by how sales of the Galaxy Note 4 go as well as what demand is like for the Galaxy Note Edge in the markets where it is available.
Since the product may only see limited production, the odds are not good for favorable pricing when the Galaxy Note Edge does eventually make it to a market.
