Meizu is Chinese up and coming manufacturer which is trying to broaden its horizons, in other words expand its business abroad. This is an extremely popular brand in China, though that market has become extremely competitive so basically every major Chinese manufacturer (including Meizu) is trying to widen its reach. Huawei and Xiaomi are also great examples of that. Meizu has announced its new MX4 flagship recently and it really does pack a lot of punch. The device features a 5.36-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) IPS LCD panel, 2GB of RAM and 16, 32 or 64GB of internal storage, depending on the model of course. MediaTek’s MT6595 octa-core chip (four ARM Cortex-A17 processor and four Cortex-A7 processors inside) is powering this beast along with PowerVR series 6 GPU. On the back of the device you can find a 20.7-megapixel camera (Sony’s sensor) along with a dual tone, dual LED flash. 5-megapixel camera is located on the front as well as the usual array of sensors. 3100mAh non-removable battery is included in the package and the device comes with Android 4.4.4 KitKat OS pre-installed with Meizu’s Flyme 4.0 OS on top of it. This device is the first device which carries this version of Flyme, they showcased it via MX 4.
Meizu announced the international availability of this thing today, you can pre-order it startting with $449 if you get it outside of China. $449 is the price of the base 16GB model, 32 and 64GB are also available via Meizu. We’ve already informed you that you can pre-order it internationally via GearBest (reseller) the other day for that very same price. MX4 costs 1799 Yuan in China, which is $299, that makes the device a bargain in China and also means that it is $150 more expensive internationally. That price is still quite acceptable when you consider what you’re getting in the package, a solid metallic design along with a great set of specifications. We’re talking about an unlocked device here of course, so if you want to get an unlocked device and you don’t have the cash for some other, internationally better known brands, this might be just the thing for you. There’s no denying this is a really competitive price despite the fact the device is $150 more expensive internationally (compared to its price in China).
