As usual, iFixit has torn down a Moto 360 to get a good look at its internals and see just how easy it’ll be to repair. Typically, we see that smaller devices that lack removable backs or batteries are the most complex to repair, and unfortunately, that holds true with the Moto 360.
The watchband on the device is the easiest part of the device to replace, although Motorola claims that you’ll need to take the watch to a jeweler to have it swapped out. iFixit found that it’s easy enough with a pair of tweezers, so some of the more handy users will likely be able to take care of that on their own.
Aside from the watch band, nearly everything else in the watch is extremely difficult to take apart thanks to its compact design and water and dust resistance. The device actually cracked open at one point, which at least means that you shouldn’t have to worry about water seeping into your new smartwatch.
An interesting takeaway from the teardown is that the Moto 360 battery is listed as 300 mAh, despite Motorola claiming the device has a 320 mAh battery. That 20 mAh difference isn’t huge, but considering the battery life is shaping up to be the Achilles heel of the device, Motorola shouldn’t have skimped out there.
At the end of the teardown, iFixit gave the smartwatch a 3 out of 10. Unfortunately, that means if you bust the watch and need a repair any more intensive than a new wristband, you’ll probably end up having to get a new one. Hit the link below to check out the full video.
