As we approach Nexus season, it’s important to talk about different aspects of the device. Which is exactly what we’ll be doing over the next couple weeks. Typically, the Nexus leaks out when Google unveils the newest statue for the newest version of Android. And after that, it’s just an ocean of leaks. Which that statue could be unveiled any day now for Android L, which we expect to be rolling out in October.
So what do we think the name of the Nexus will be? Well the past two Nexus’ the Nexus 4 and Nexus 5 were the fourth and fifth Nexus but also had a 4.x-inch and a 5-inch display. Now there are rumors of a 5.9-inch display for the next Nexus, but I still don’t believe that. Especially with more rumors of a 5.2-inch Nexus surfacing. With there already being a Nexus 7, they are going to need to change up that naming scheme soon anyways. There’s been word of it also being named the Nexus X. Which, where it’s supposedly being modeled after the Moto X, I could definitely see that name.
However, we did recently (as in this week) also see the name “Nexus 5 2014″ so we could also see what most other manufacturers have been doing and just keep it the same name. Like the Moto X 2014, and the HTC One M8. Which I’d be perfectly happy with the name Nexus 5 2014, myself. What about the rest of you? It might be a bit confusing at first, but we’ll get over it, like we have for other OEMs.
So the new Nexus smartphone is coming real soon, probably about another month or two. What do you think the name is? Could it be the Nexus 6? Or the Nexus X? Or even the Nexus 5 2014? Let us know your thoughts in the comments down below.
