LG: The Upcoming LG G4 Will Be ‘Radically’ Different Than Its Predecessor

LG has released four new handsets prior to the Mobile World Congress (MWC), and is currently showcasing those devices at the show floor. These are low and mid-range devices though, LG didn’t announce their G4 flagship at the MWC, and they don’t plan to do it this month either. According to a ton of reports and some indirect confirmations from LG’s executives, this Korean smartphone vendor intends to unveil their next-gen flagship next month, in April. Well, LG’s mobile chief got interviewed recently, and he shared some interesting info regarding their upcoming flagship.

Cho Juno, LG Electronics’ mobile chief, said that LG G4 will be “radically different” than the G3, both on the inside and the outside. This sounds odd at first, but this probably means that they’ll include metal in the build of the handset, which is to be expected actually. LG G4 is expected to launch with LG UX 4 out of the box, which also means some change on the software front as well. Mr. Juno didn’t share any details regarding the software though, not even hints what might be different, but I guess we can expect a more Lollipop-like UI or something.

Mr. Juno has also confirmed that the company is working on a new high-end SoC, after their NUCLUN chip completely failed in the market. Does this mean that the G4 will ship with LG’s very own chip? Well, it all depends on where is LG with the SoC development at this moment, are they close to mass producing this thing, or nowhere near it, we’ll find out soon. This Korean smartphone vendor might also launch its own mobile payment system in order to compete with Apple and Samsung.

There you have it, it seems like LG has big plans for the future, and LG G4 might surprise us all in the end.
