Rumored Huawei P8 “Lite” Version Also To Be Unveiled In The UK

Later on in April of this year, Huawei is set to unveil their new smartphone, the Huawei P8, in the UK. There has been a good deal of buzz surrounding this new phone by the Chinese manufacturer. It is expected that this new device will be powered by Android 5.0 Lollipop with the Kirin 930 processor produced by Huawei. The 1080p display is expected to come in at 5.2 inches and have a resolution of 1080 x 1920 with an expected 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. It is also expected to have a dual 13-megapixel camera with Optic Image Stabilization (OIS). This will be much like the Huawei Honor 6. All of this will be housed inside a reported ceramic frame with Gorilla Glass 3 backing along with a fingerprint scanner. It is expected to cost somewhere around $480+ (at least in China, other markets may be more expensive).

According to a tweet from Tech journalist Antonio Monaco (source link below), the Huawei P8 will also come in a “lite” version. He did not state any reported specs for this “lite” device, but we can assume that it has slightly smaller specs than its larger sibling. This is presumably a cost saving measure for the consumer, allowing them to choose the phone that best fits their budget. Some possible deviations from the full feature P8 could be a smaller screen or a 720p resolution, 2GB of RAM vs. 3GB, or maybe even a different processor or getting rid of the fingerprint scanner or dual camera system.

It is unclear at this point what the difference between the full feature P8 and the “Lite” version will be. At this point this is speculation and has not been verified by Huawei, so take the information with a hint of caution. The London event is shaping up to be an exciting spectacle for Huawei, and it will be interesting to see what they have in store for us with the release of the P8 and now a possible “Lite” version of their new device. If this rumor is true, this may provide a decent alternative to those seeking to buy a decent phone with competitive specs at a reasonable price. We will just have to wait and see what the event in London on April 15, 2015 has in store for us consumers.
