We’re seeing a lot of rugged smartphones being launched recently, so I guess there’s quite the demand for such handsets out in the market. Those devices can really come in handy for people who really don’t like to pay attention to how they handle their devices (and by that I really mean throw it around and what not), or their work in construction or something of the sort and they really need something water and dust proof, and drop their phones on a daily basis. Luckily for them, as I already said, there are significant number of rugged smartphones out on the market today.
Another such device got launched in China, and its name is Conquest S6. This device also brings forth IP68 certification for water and dust resistance, and it’s also resistant to pressure, freezing, scratching and high temperatures (everything has its limits though, of course). Anyhow, this device can withstand all sorts of impacts, it is rubberized and well protected all around. Two metal strips are tightly in place thanks to titanium screws which are making sure of that. The device measures 158.9 x 83. 16mm, while it weighs 290 grams, so it’s not exactly that small or light.
As far as its specifications go, this device features a 5-inch 720p (1280 x 720) display with Corning’s Gorilla Glass 3 on top of it. MediaTek’s MT8732 quad-core processor is powering this device and the handset ships with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of in-built storage. 13-megapixel snapper is located on the back of this device, while there’s a 5-megapixel camera available up front. 4,000mAh battery ships with this device, and Android 4.4.4 KitKat comes pre-installed here. Dual-SIM support is also included here, and the device offers 4G LTE connectivity as well.
This device is currently on sale in China for 1,999 Yuan ($320), but you might be able to get this device through various resellers internationally in the future. The company didn’t say anything about its availability outside of China though, hopefully we’ll get more details in the future. That being said, this is a low-mid range device and I guess it might appeal to some people despite the price, there are many other rugged offerings out in the market though.
