If you’re unfamiliar with Yotaphone or its successor the Yotaphone 2, these are definitely devices that you’re going to want to check out. The Yotaphone 2 is unique enough to draw attention and keep it, even if it isn’t packed with the most high end specifications of this year’s flagship devices. It features a dual-screen setup with an LCD screen on one side and a power efficient, low battery consumption e-ink display on the other side, which could be a great solution to a problem many consumers face on a daily basis, battery life. The original Yotaphone never made it officially to U.S. shores, but not too long ago it was stated that the Yotaphone 2 would be be getting an eventual U.S. launch at some point.
Today we’re learning that not only will the Yotaphone 2 be getting launched in the U.S.,(as well as Canada)but it will also be carried by one of the nation’s largest four carriers. No details were given on which one would be grabbing up the device, but if we had to guess our money is on either Verizon or AT&T as they seem to always get a handful of exclusives. It would be nice to see this on T-Mobile though or even better yet, a handful of carriers instead of just one. Word comes from Yotaphone’s Managing Director Matthew Kelley who told Android Central we would see the device hit a U.S. operator.
The device is actually carrying a decent set of specifications, like 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage space, but it is running an older version of Android with Kit Kat 4.4.3. The display measures up to a 4.7-inch SuperAMOLED display with a 1080p resolution, which is nothing to shake a stick at. Now that we know the Yotaphone 2 will officially be sold on one of the four major networks, we just have a couple more details to learn about and that’s which carrier will have the pleasure of selling this device, and how much will it cost consumers to buy one after the Yotaphone 2 hits store shelves. Would you consider buying the Yotaphone 2 if it were offered on your carrier’s network?
