The candy bar form factor which Samsung adopted for its Gear range of smartwatches has been criticised a lot since its introduction to the market back in September, 2013, but now it looks like that’s all about to change. According to SamMobile, the South Korean company is working on a brand new, round-faced model.
The watch has been internally dubbed “Orbis” and carries the model number “SM-R720″. If patents filed back in December are anything to go by, it looks like the unit is set to feature Samsung’s new and extremely user-friendly ring operated design, which enables control of the device by simply sliding a finger around the bezel of the watch face.
Samsung has been awfully quiet at the Consumer Electronics Show this year, so we predict that the manufacturer may have plans to unveil its Orbis smartwatch at Mobile World Congress, which is scheduled to take place in less than two months.
