You’ve all heard of Tizen by now I believe, Samsung’s very own mobile operating system which is powering several Samsung wearables. Samsung’s Tizen-powered Z1 budget smartphone was also mentioned plenty of times by now, and the company has just launched this thing in India, following last month’s rumor. Anyhow, let’s see what this budget smartphone has to offer and is it worth your money.
Samsung Z1 features a 4-inch WVGA (800 x 480) PLS display, 768MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage (expandable up to 64GB via microSD card). This handset is powered by Spreadtrum SC7727S dual-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz which ships with Mali 400 GPU for graphics rendering. This is a dual-SIM device and it comes with Tizen OS 2.3 pre-installed. 3.1-megapixel camera can be found on the back of this thing and is flanked by an LED flash, while a VGA front-facing shooter is also available here, and is placed on the front side of this device. 1,500mAh battery ships with this handset, and the device itself measures 120.4 x 63.2 x 9.7mm while it weighs 112 grams. As far as connectivity goes, you get Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Wi-FI Direct, Bluetooth 4.1 and A-GPS, no 4G LTE connectivity here.
You also get Samsung’s Ultra Power Saving Mode as part of this device’s software, and the phone also comes with free premium content through Club Samsung. You get access to 270,000 songs and over 80 live TV channels. Free access to Hungama music for three months is also included, and you also get a free nexGTv and Box TV subscription for three months. AntiVirus protections comes pre-installed, and you can enable SOS alert by pressing the power button four times, which will send out a help message to your primary contacts and provide them with your location, which is a nice and useful feature to have, you never know when you might need it.

The Samsung Z1 comes in Black, White and Red color options and is priced at Rs. 5,700 ($). The device is available for purchase starting today throughout India, and it comes with 500MB of 3G data free every month for 6 months for Aircel and Reliance customers.
