Xiaomi will hold their press conference tomorrow at 2PM in China (local time, GMT+8). The Redmi Note 2 will definitely get announced at that press conference, the company has more or less confirmed that via various teasers. What’s interesting though, is that Xiaomi teased a second device for this launch, everyone assumed that they’ll launch the Mi4S / Mi5 at the event, but that might not be the case. We’ve seen a ton of leaks and rumors regarding the Mi5 and it seemed like a shoo-in, but Xiaomi’s latest teaser threw us off track. In the meantime, Xiaomi Mi5 Plus listing showed up on Twitter along with the render of that device.
Well, a new report from China brings us possible specs of the Mi5 Plus handset. An alleged Mi5 render popped up on January 9, showing off a great looking device, but something seemed off there. Well, a new rumor from China claims this render could actually be real after all, and represent the Mi5 Plus device. This seems really confusing, I know, but let’s try to make some sense out of all this. This leak also claims that the Mi5 Plus will cost 2,999 Yuan ($484). As far as its specifications go, the device will allegedly feature a 6-inch quadHD display along with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of in-built storage. The report also says that Qualcomm’s 64-bit Snapdragon 810 octa-core processor will power on this handset and a 16-megapixel OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) camera will be located on the back of this phone.
This is really hard to believe, but I hope Xiaomi will launch this thing. The device looks great, it really does, it has minimal bezels all around and the curve on the sides looks great in my humble opinion. The event will commence in less than 24 hours and we’ll know everything soon. What do you think, is the Mi5 Plus real and will the company announce it tomorrow, or not? Would you be interested in buying it if this leak pans out? Let us know what you think, we’d love to hear from you, as usual.
