Huawei did great in 2014, the company managed to increase their profits significantly and really did release some compelling hardware and software. Their Ascend P7 and Mate 7 handsets were really popular with consumers. Huawei has also revamped their Emotion UI Android skin and it’s much more usable now, not to mention that it looks way better than it did before. This China-based giant is on the right path and it will be interesting to see if they can keep that up in 2015, the competition is fierce, especially in China.
This Chinese manufacturer was rather well-known for using the “Ascend” branding for their devices, well, it seems like that’s coming to an end soon. According to report from China, a reliable one according to the source, Huawei will stop using the “Ascend” branding. The source also said that Huawei will share more details about this at the MWC (Mobile World Congress) in Barcelona, which will take place in March. That’s not all though, DroidApp spotted something rather interesting in Huawei’s official press release, the completely omitted the “Ascend” branding for several of their (already released) devices, as you can see in the image down below.
It seems like Huawei won’t replace the Ascend branding, but remove it completely. We don’t have any information why would Huawei do that, but it seems like it’s going to happen. I for one, do think this is a good idea, I never liked the Ascend branding though it wasn’t so bad compared to some other companies. Huawei not only cleaned up their UI and smartphone design, but it seems like they’ll clean up the naming of their devices as well. Anyhow, what are your thoughts here, do you think this is a good move by Huawei or do you think this will confuse people and is completely unnecessary?
