Motorola Confirms Delay Of Android 5.0.1 Update To The Moto 360 As “By The End Of This Week”

AH Moto 360-1

The Lollipop updates for Android Wear smartwatches are still on their way out to users, and people will continue to get them periodically probably for the next week or so. More specifically, we’re talking about the Moto 360 here. Some users with the Moto 360 have already gotten the update to Android Wear 5.0.1, and Motorola even stated yesterday that it would be out to users by the end of the day, which was changed to today at some point, and has now landed on what seems to be a final status of reaching most or all users by the end of this week. If you are an impatient person with updates then we’re sorry to bring you this news that you’ll potentially be waiting a little longer to get your update to the latest version of Android Wear.

The delay in the update could very well have been for the purpose of smoothing out bugs although Motorola didn’t mention any specifics. Nonetheless a delay means that Motorola wants to ensure that they obviously have everything ironed out before they push the software out to everyone. At this stage we shouldn’t be too surprised by software update delays as it happens quite often. Once you do the get the update however, you’ll be able to take advantage of all the awesome new features like Sunlight Mode and Theater Mode, the screenshot capture from the Android Wear companion app, and the ability to turn off the tilt to wake feature which will be something I will personally be looking forward to as sometimes it’s just not practical to keep it enabled.

Other notable features come in the form of third party watch face support, and if you accidentally swipe away a card you didn’t mean to there will be a way to bring it back after the update to Android 5.0.1. There will also be new quick settings options from the swipe down action on your Moto 360 screen, which is one of the ways to access the two new watch modes. You can also access those by double tapping and triple tapping the external button on the side of the watch. Are you excited to get this update? Have you already received yours when they begun rolling out over the past couple days? Share your thoughts.
