Instagram Adds Five New Photo Filters Along With Filter Management Button

AH Instagram 1.1

Instagram has long been one of the most popular ways for sharing photos and when that world came to Android users it was a nice little gift for all the photo loving people out there. You can use Instagram for more than just sharing and favoriting photos though, you can also use it to apply some cool looking frames and filters to the images you snap from your smartphone camera, and you can even use it to take pictures right from inside the app with the button that takes you to the camera viewfinder.

To add to the allure of throwing some filters onto your most beloved pics, Instagram today has announced via their blog that they’re adding in five new filters for users to play with. They open up by reminiscing on their new filter adds from back in December of 2012, two years prior to now, having added in the filters Mayfair and Willow back then. While those are arguably two of the best, they focus on the fact that photography trends have changed and this has led to them adding in some photo filters to go along with trends of today’s photography. They believe these filters are their best ones yet, and if you use Instagram yourself you just might think the same thing once you get to know them.

The new filters being added in this latest update are Slumber, Crema, Ludwig, Aden, and Perpetua, (all of which you can see previews of in the gallery below according to the same order they were listed off) and all five filters will be sitting at the front of your filter tray the next time you open up the app after the update. In addition to the new filters, Instagram is also adding in the ability to see a blurred preview of your filtered image at a glance so you know what to expect after applying the filter effect. Lastly, they have added in a new way to manage your favorite filters so you can keep the ones you view as the very best, at the forefront of the filter tray by re-organizing them in the order that you wish to see them, while also allowing you to hide the ones you either don’t care for or won’t use that often. The update should be live on the Play Store now so if you already have Instagram installed, check out the my apps section of the Play Store and see if the update is ready to go. If you don’t have Instagram yet, you can grab it from the Play Store as of now.
