Amazon reported results for their holiday shopping season and the company seems to be quite happy with the results. Amazon’s membership program, Amazon Prime, added 10 million new members during the holiday season. Some estimates put the total number of Prime members at close to 60 million, which is a huge increase from the estimated 20 million Amazon had to start the year and comes even with the increase in price this past year.

In addition to the growth in Prime memberships, Amazon also shared some figures about their shoppers during the holiday season. Compared to last year, 10 times more orders were placed for Same-Day Delivery. Amazon also reported that nearly 60 percent of their customers used a mobile device and customers used those devices later into the shopping season than in prior years, possibly indicating how confident and comfortable consumers are becoming at buying using their mobile devices. Amazon’s app for smartphones recorded twice as many sales as the prior year. Amazon also reported Cyber Monday was their biggest sales day again, although Black Friday saw the biggest growth compared to the prior year for mobile shoppers.

As far as what was purchased, Amazon reported their top selling tablets were from their line of Fire tablets. Some other top-sellers included their own Amazon Fire TV streaming media box, Samsung and LG televisions, and GoPro cameras. Also of note was a trio of Chromebooks – the Acer C720, a 13-inch ASUS Chromebook, and the HP 11-2010nr – that dominated the computer category.
