LG G Watch R To Launch In Europe In November, Will Be Priced At €299

Smartwatches, including the Android Wear ones, are becoming more popular by the minute. We’re seeing more and more watches being manufactured. Samsung Gear Live and LG G Watch were the first Android Wear smartwatches and IFA brought a few more offerings on the table. Asus and Sony brought their Android Wear offerings to the table while LG showcased company’s G Watch R sporting a circular display and kind of a sporty look.

G Watch will launch in Korea on October 14 while it is available for pre-order in the UK. GSM Arena spotted yet another listing for this device, G Watch R has been listed by a retailer in the Netherlands. This listing says that the device will arrive in the week of November 3-7, which is about a month away. Smartwatchshop.nl has listed the G Watch R for €299, which makes it a €100 more expensive than its square-shaped brother. This listing could also mean the device will be available elsewhere in Europe on said dates, but that’s just a guess of course.

LG G Watch R is featuring a rounded 1.3-inch 320 x 320 P-OLED (Plastic Organic Light-Emitting Diode) screen. The watch is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz along with 512MB of RAM. The device has IP67 certification for water and dust resistance and it comes with 410mAh battery packed on the inside. This thing is built out of stainless steel and it will be shipped with a leather strap attached to it. The device is black, it has a built-in heart-rate monitor and it comes with 4GB of internal storage. Bluetooth 4.0 is, of course, a part of this package as well.

When I first saw LG G Watch R I was intrigued. I generally like watches which sport circular displays more, though I appreciate nicely designed watches no matter which shape they feature. Same thing goes for smartwatches, we have to keep in mind we’ll wear these things every single day and that it is a watch first, smartwatch second. At least that’s what I always think when I see one of them, how about you? I like the G Watch R, but I do believe it’s way too expensive.
