Chrome 38 for Android arrives to the stable channel

Last month Chrome 38 Beta arrived bringing a few minor changes to the table, and now the stable channel has reached version 38 as well.

So what exactly is new here? While there’s no new features in this release, there are several tweaks that should improve the experience such as support for battery status and screen orientation APIs, security fixes and likely unnamed bug fixes as well.

Here’s the official change-log:

  • Support for Battery Status and Screen orientation APIs

  • Additional Material Design updates

  • Lots of bug fixes and performance improvements!

  • This release also contains the following security fix:

  • [$1500][406593] Medium CVE-2014-3201: Content spoofing with scrollbar. Credit to Keita Haga.

One feature that appears to be missing that was present in the beta, however, is the new touch to search functionality for Android L preview and as a flag for other versions. Of course that’s not all too surprising, as not all beta features make it over to stable releases.

As is typical, you can expect the latest update to roll out in stages, though you can always grab the APK and install it manually if you prefer not to wait.
