Thanks to cutting costs, HTC has managed to turn a profit in Q3 this year, which is a huge relief for the company for sure. The company is moving in a different direction is seems considering they recently announced a rather odd Desire Eye handset along with an RE Camera device. It is really important for HTC to pick their battles carefully and somehow manage to keep their finances in order considering they still don’t sell nearly enough devices. HTC recently launched the Desire 820, Desire 820q and Desire 816G in India and we’ve seen some leaked benchmark results of the upcoming MediaTek-powered D820us device which will also probably launch in either India or China. The company has also launched their Desire 820 handset in China recently. HTC is definitely taking a different approach to its business model, it seems the company will try to penetrate the biggest markets in the world in order to move as many devices as possible, similar to what Xiaomi is doing. That’s just my guess of course.
Anyhow, we have some information regarding HTC’s Desire 820 Mini handset coming straight from China. You can see the alleged render of the device above this article. It looks like a smaller Desire 820, as its name says, though that’s not the only difference as far as look goes. Take a look at the back of the device, its camera is located at the upper center part of the device while the Desire 820’s is on the upper left side of the phone. Flash is also here and it’s located under the camera sensor. The report says that the device will be a stripped-down version of the Desire 820 and according to it the device will allegedly sport a 5-inch display along with an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera. 5-megapixel camera will reportedly be located at the front of the device and this will be a 4G LTE capable handset. China Mobile and China Unicom support is also mentioned (these carriers will probably sell the Desire 820 Mini once it launches). This handset will, of course, be cheaper than the Desire 820, which is currently priced at 1,999 Yuan in China. This report doesn’t give us the date or the time frame HTC might launch the Desire 820 Mini handset, but I’m sure we’ll get more information soon.
