Android 5.0 Lollipop SDK Arriving On October 17th

Android L SDK Today is the big day, the day that Google has announced a few new products including the Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 as well as Android L. These are all huge announcements and all of these things will be available to the public sooner than later but what about the Android L SDK for developers? Well that’s coming very soon, only two days from now to be exact.

For those of you who are not aware of what an SDK is then you probably have no reason to mess around with one, but let’s at least let you know what it is. The Android SDK provides app developers with the API library and tools that are necessary for creating good Android apps. Not only that, but the Android SDK also provides developers with tools for testing and debugging their apps as well, an essential part of developing any sort of app.

The Android 5.0 Lollipop SDK will be available to developers on October 17th, two days from now. This SDK will allow developers to incorporate those awesome new animations and features that Android Lollipop comes jam-packed with into their apps. Some of the new APIs developers will have access to in this upcoming SDK include the new camera API, JobScheduler, and a lot of new 60 FPS animations. All of these API and a ton more will be available to developers, giving them much more control and the ability to add much more features to their apps.

All you Android developers reading this better prepare yourself by updating all of your development tools while you wait for this new SDK to be released. You guys have a lot of work ahead of you and we can’t wait to see what new apps you create. The new Android 5.0 Lollipop animations and design guidelines are simply gorgeous, apps that incorporate these things are going to have a significant upper-hand over the apps that don’t. All of you Android developers should be incorporating the new Android design guidelines into your app someway or another. Regardless, the rest of this year is going to be an interesting one with a lot of new Google hardware and software on the way, it’s going to be fun.
