Samsung Announces Micro USB Power-Sharing Cable – $19.99

For those of you that own both a Samsung smartphone like the Galaxy S5, or soon to be Galaxy Note 4 as well as a Gear smartwatch, you’re going to like this new product from Samsung. What they announced today, is a new cable that you can use to connect your Galaxy S5 to your Gear Smartwatch and transfer power between them to keep them both alive during the day. Now this might not seem all that amazing, especially where I’d rather have a battery pack and tether one of them, then tether both together. But that’s just me. But this is something new that we haven’t seen anyone else do in the past.

Samsung shows us how to get started, well tells us anyways:

“To start, download the “Power Sharing” app from Samsung Apps or the Google Play store, and select the amount of power to transfer. Then, simply plug in one end of the cable into the device that the power is being drawn from while plugging in the other end of the cable into the device to be charged.”

Their power sharing app is in the Play Store and obviously the Samsung app store as well. Then just plug the cable in to both devices. Sounds pretty simple and easy, right? We’ll have to give this a try once we get one to use, likely with the Galaxy Note 4. It’s available now from Samsung’s website if you’re interested in picking one up to charge your Samsung devices now. You can grab one here.

It’s definitely an interesting concept. I’m not so sure it’ll catch on, but definitely interesting. What will be more interesting is how well it works. As you’re basically transferring power from one device to another. How many of you are interested in this Micro USB Power-Sharing cable from Samsung?
