Moto G2 Front Panel Leaks out, Showing off a 5-inch Display

We’ve heard rumors that Motorola might be stepping up to a 5-inch display with their new Moto G which we are expecting to see at their event on September 4th. And now we’re seeing even more leaks of what appears to be a bigger, 5-inch display. Which likely means the Moto G2, won’t be as cheap as the Moto G was, unfortunately.

You can see the front panel above, and see that it is bigger than even the Moto X from last year, which had a 4.7-inch display. Retailer Taobao from Asia posted these pictures on their site, and in fact, you can actually buy this front panel if you are really interested. From what we can gather, we’re looking at a larger display – possibly a bump to 1080p as well – and a 8MP camera. We may also see a bump in the battery. Since we are getting an extra half an inch of screen space, which means more space in the back. Otherwise the specs should be identical to last year’s Moto G. But we could see a slight speed bump in the processor, however it’ll likely still be a Snapdragon 400 inside. We may also see some better storage options as well. As it appears that this is going to be a bit more expensive than last year’s model, but still under $300, is my guess.

The Moto G which Motorola announced last year quickly became their best selling smartphone of all time. Which isn’t too hard to believe. Since most of their smartphones had been exclusive to particular carriers, and Motorola didn’t really have a marketshare outside of the US before the Moto G. Not to mention how great the Moto G is for the money you pay for it. I’d definitely grab one.

Anyone else excited for the Moto G2 on September 4th? Let us know in the comments below.
