Moto 360 vs LG G Watch R vs Samsung Gear S

Late last night, LG and Samsung decided to announce a couple new smartwatches. The LG G Watch R and the Samsung Gear S. LG’s watch is running on Android Wear and is a circular display, much like the Moto 360. Which has made a lot of people think that Motorola missed their time. While the Samsung Gear S is running on Tizen, and not Android Wear. So we decided it’d be a good idea to go ahead and compare these three smartwatches, as they will be the ones we’ll be talking about for the next few months. We’re likely to see a bunch more smartwatches at IFA next week, so this probably own’t be our last comparison either.

Both the Moto 360 and LG G Watch R are round display smartwatches running on Android Wear. While the Gear S is a curved display, but still a rectangle. It’s also slightly larger, with a 2-inch display. So there are differences here and we are starting to see more and more smartwatches coming out, making something available for everyone. Which is a good thing. As not everyone wants the same smartwatch. All three have replaceable straps for those wanting to get a new strap.

The LG G Watch R is coming out in Q4, the Samsung Gear S is coming out in October (part of Q4) and we still don’t have a release date for the Moto 360, but it’s likely we’ll learn more about launch next week at Motorola’s event. We’ve got a table down below showing you the differences of specs between the three of these. They all look like great smartwatches, but I’d probably stick to something running Android Wear, as I know I won’t need to do any trickery to get it to work with my LG G3. Seeing as the Tizen smartwatches from Samsung only work with Samsung devices unless you do some trickery.
