Android Wear is getting more and more apps available. Although most of them make you ask the question “Why?”, there’s a new app out there now. This one is Attopedia, and it essentially lets you browse Wikipedia straight from your wrist. Attopedia is an open-source app for Android Wear, which it’s great that it’s open source as others can work on it and add new goodies to it as well. This only works for Android Wear, so while you can open it on your phone, it’ll tell you to use your Android Wear device to use it, in my case that’d be the LG G Watch.
With Attopedia, you can scroll up or down to jump into menus and left or right to reveal more content to read. It’ll take some getting used to, definitely, but we’re not sure it’s all that terrible. Definitely better than having a browser on your wrist. It’s a pretty decent app for Android Wear, and one that I think a lot of people are going to start using and checking out over the next few days and weeks.
This may not be the perfect app for Android Wear – which I’m not really sure what the “perfect app” would be – but it’s definitely a great idea. It’ll be interesting to see what kind of response Attopedia gets. I wouldn’t be surprised to see news sites with Android apps get their own Android Wear app to go along with it. Maybe just for notifications, or so you can read the latest news while you’re on the go. Which would be pretty cool as well.
