T-mobile looks to be testing an unknown ZTE device for its network, getting the device ready for a launch among the other devices currently in its lineup. The unknown ZTE device appears to be of a “phablet” sized orientation and would provide Big Magenta with a third device in that particular category, alongside the LG G Flex and the Samsung Galaxy Note 3. Come this fall, we could also see the Galaxy Note 4 get added to the lineup as well. There is n’t much information to be grabbed from the image of the handset but there are a couple of key details that are visible.
The T-Mobile visual voicemail application is present so we can tell that it’s a T-Mobile device, then there’s the glare in the screen from the person taking the picture, where you can clearly make out the T-Mobile logo on the shirt being worn by the individual, most likely an employee. We can also tell that the device is running on Android 4.4+ Kit Kat due to the white status bar icon color, and it’s possible that this could be one of the devices that ZTE had planned to use the Google Now Launcher, otherwise known as the Google Experience Launcher. ZTE had previously stated that they were planning on launching several devices including the upcoming Blade Vec 4G for the Hong Kong market, with the Google Experience Launcher on board as the stock launcher instead of the skinned UI they normally use. The Blade Vec 4G, which is supposed to be the first device to have the GEL built in is scheduled for an unveiling this week, could this be another device planned to get the same treatment?
The leak of the image comes from of course none other than the well known evleaks, who commonly outs images or specs and other details about upcoming devices. Other than what we can see on screen, the only information given was that this was a ZTE device being tested on T-Mobile’s network. Unfortunately there aren’t any details about the specs of the device, nor what it will be called once it hits the T-Mobile network, or what it will cost once it launches. However, this is a ZTE device after all so we shouldn’t expect it to cost a whole lot compared to the other phablet devices on the network.
