Facebook rolling out “save” feature for bookmarking News Feed content

Facebook is rolling out a new “save” feature that is designed to make using the social network a bit easier. In short, the new feature for desktop, Android and iOS allows you to save links to content that you encounter within your feed.

Technically all of this was already possible by sharing Facebook with services like Pocket, but it’s still a welcome change and some users will appreciate a built-in option without having to utilize a third-party. As for the kind of content you can save? Honestly, just about anything shared by your friends such as music, movies, places, web links and plain old news.

Once saved, the items will automatically be categorized and you’ll be able to read them at your earliest convenience. You’ll also have the option of sharing or archiving items added to the Save feature. In case you forget you saved content to read later, Facebook will also give you occasional reminders about unread posts sitting in your saved section.

The new feature will go live to most users within the next few days, and you’ll be able to find it in the “more” section from within the mobile app. What do you think, a useful addition or an unnecessary one?
