Device Support Added To CyanogenMod 12 (CM12) Official Nightlies Including LG G3, Nexus 6 And Android One

If you are CyanogenMod user (or even just a fan) then this week has been a big week. This is because, on the back of all the bad press for the sister Cyanogen variant (CyanogenOS), CyanogenMod made some real ground in bringing Android 5.0 (Lollipop) to its users. A couple of days ago the CyanogenMod Team announced that they were making available the first proper Lollipop official version of CyanogenMod (À La CM12). These were in the form of nightlies (which basically means experimental). That said, the CyanogenMod team did announce that they were pretty much 85% complete and working and that updates would begin to land soon clearing up the bits that were a still a bit buggy. If you missed the previous post then click here.

Although, this was a great news, one of the caveats was that it was only available to a number of devices at the moment, abeit the list was actually quite extensive. That said, the CyanogenMod team did announce that they would be making CM12 available to more devices in due course. Well, for some users, it seems due course comes much quicker than you might have expected.

Yep, if you own either the LG G3 international variant (you might know it as d855) or the Nexus 6 then your nightly builds are now live. To be honest, the Nexus 6 nightlie actually went live yesterday, but as it was not live at the time of going to press two days ago, we thought it would be worth a mention. More interestingly, another device (or set of devices), that have also gotten their first taste of CM12 is Android One devices. They are all being grouped under the same CM codename ‘sprout’ and are available to download. It is worth noting though that these are marked as ‘experimental’. Bearing in mind that nightlies themselves are experimental, you can imagine how experiment an ‘experimental’ marked nightlie is. If you are running any of these devices and want to give the official CM12 nightlies a try then click here to head over to the main download page and look down the left hand column for your device code – LG G3 (d855), Nexus 6 (shamu) and Android One (sprout). Anyone already using the new official nightlies? What do you think?
