Google App Gets Updated With A Few Tweaks Including The Ability To Manage Your ‘Now Cards’ History

Google Now

It’s the middle of the week and that means we’re due to see some updates for various Google apps, and so far the first one that seems to have popped up is the Google app itself, which encompasses Google Search and Google Now related features and functions. Right now there are a few noticeable things that have changed within the app which users will have access to once they either download the apk we have for you or once it comes through in the Play Store. To kick things off, Google has updated the OK Google Detection settings located within the ‘voice settings’ page. They have altered the distinction of a user’s personal settings for how the OK Google command responds when your device is locked, changing the name to ‘personal results’ instead of ‘when locked’.

It also appears that in this update, the settings for each individual card have changed a little bit visually, which you can see in the screenshots below for comparison with the cards about Playstation. The settings for an individual card used to be located in the card itself,(the three little dots)and when tapping them it would replace the card with another one asking you if you’re interested in the topic on that particular card, giving you the option to tap yes or no. You’re still asked about your interest in a particular card when you tap on the individual setting for it, but the three little dots now appear above the card, and instead of replacing the card altogether a section now expands above the card asking you if you’re interested in that topic, kinda like the way the “rad more” section expands for apps in the Play Store.

There is also a new option within the main settings page called Now Cards which lets you manage different options about how the Google Now cards respond. This is where you can choose to do things like toggle cards on or off, change things like what your ringtone is for urgent updates and whether or not to have vibration on for them, and you can now view your history for your Now Cards on the web within your browser by tapping the “manage history” option. Managing the Now Cards history is probably the biggest part of this app update, and it’s a welcomed one as I know I’m probably not the only one who has accidentally swiped away a particular card only to wish they hadn’t. You can grab the apk file here if you don’t want to wait for the download to come through the Play Store.
