Everyone loves a good battery pack, and why shouldn’t they? They give us some useful extra juice whenever we might be running a tad bit low on our smartphone or tablet batteries. Battery packs like everything else though are electronics, and like most electronics they don’t like water, moisture, or physical damage. That is unless your the new line of battery packs coming from Scosche which they’ve just unveiled this week at CES2015, the goBAT6000 and goBAT12000(insert over 9,000!!!! reference here)battery packs which are ruggedized, shock proof, and water proof to stay protected from dents, dings, falls from ridiculously unrealistic heights of which you would never intentionally drop your electronics, probably from being crushed(within reason), and of course protection from water immersion and spills.
As one could probably guess, both the battery packs in Scosche’s goBAT lineup have names representative of their battery capacity, so the goBAT6000 has a 6,000mAh battery capacity and the goBAT12000 has a 12,000mAh battery capacity. Both packs are IP67 rated for waterproof and dustproof, and Scosche says they’ve even been drop tested to meet military standards, so we’d expect they can take a beating. If you’re commonly only charging one device using an external pack, the goBAT6000 should meet your needs with the single 2.4A perfect charge USB port. However if you need to power up more than one device on a consistent basis, the goBAT12000 carries two 2.4A perfect charge USB ports for rapid charging of two devices at the same time.
Both the goBAT6000 and 12000 also come with power already in them(pre-charged)so once you get it you can use it immediately, which is a huge benefit over some battery packs. Scosche also integrated something they call zero self-discharge circuitry so that both packs can hold a charge for years, and like most battery packs out there they also have LED indicator lights to let you know how much of a charge you have remaining. They also both have built-in steel clip rings on top that can make them easily attachable to a bag or backpack. The goBAT6000 and the goBAT12000 will be available sometime in Q1 of this year, and they’ll cost $44.99 and $79.99 respectively.
