China is well known for making extremely affordable smartphones, some of which are really good actually. There are still lots of those that are not worth the second look though, but some companies are doing a really good job in the “extremely affordable” category, like Xiaomi, Meizu and some other companies. Huawei is definitely one of those, they released an incredibly powerful device quite recently, the Honor 6 Plus, and priced it really low, on my surprise. It seems like Huawei plans to keep that trend and actually go much lower this time around, the Honor 6 Plus carries a really affordable price, but it’s a high-end device after all, well, it look like Huawei plans to release something much more affordable than that.
You might recall that a Leadcore-powered Xiaomi device got certified a while back, that handset will allegedly cost around 399 Yuan ($64), and it seems like Huawei plans to release something similar in order to compete with Xiaomi. The image of this device (which you can check out above this article), along with some additional information, popped up on the Chinese social network Weibo. This handset will allegedly also be powered by a Leadcore chip and as you can see in the image, it won’t have an LED flash on the back. The phone will reportedly sport China Mobile’s TD-LTE/TD-SCDMA/GSM network band and will also be a dual-SIM device. As far as specifications go, the leak says it will feature a 5-inch 720p display, 1GB of RAM, 5-megapixel rear-facing and a 2-megapixel front-facing cameras.
These specs actually don’t sound bad at all, quite on contrary, though I don’t believe Huawei will be able to price it so low though. 399 Yuan ($64) just seems way to low for an HD display and 1GB of RAM, but who knows, perhaps this China-based smartphone manufacturer surprises us all and actually manages to pull this off. It would be interesting to see both Xiaomi and Huawei to release the 399 Yuan ($64) handset. If this happens, which one of the two devices would you prefer? Would you be interested in such a device at all? This might be a great option for a backup smartphone or something of the sort.
