CES 2015 is nearly upon us and some of us can hardly keep our excitement contained with all the things that we very well could see come out of the event. While the official trade show doesn’t technically start until tomorrow, with the show floors opening up on Tuesday, a handful of companies are going to be trying to at the very least announce their newest offerings before the conferences begin tomorrow morning. So far we have seen some teasers of Sony’s upcoming CES releases, which potentially point to a possible new device that may or may not be the Xperia Z4,(although some of us here think that Sony will instead opt to unveil that device next month at MWC)and LG has promo posters up at CES showing off the thin curvature of the LG G Flex 2, although that’s all we see on the promo image, the actual curve from the side and no actual shots of the phone itself.
Nvidia also has their press conference which begins later on this evening, and if their demonstrations are anything like they were last year when they unveiled the Nvidia Tegra K1 processor running on 192 cuda GPU cores, then we expect a pretty cool show from them. Who knows what they have on the docket to unveil once things start up. Do you think we’ll see something new from HTC? Our own Alex Maxham thinks we might see a new Desire device shown off at the event, which isn’t entirely impossible. Other OEM’s that are less well known here in the states are at CES this year like Huawei and ZTE, both which will have something to show the attendees. ZTE in fact have already been displaying a couple of handsets like the ZTE Star 2 and the ZTE Nubia Z7(which was launched in China back in July of 2014)for those who are at the show, as we have boots on the ground at CES this year and we’ve gotten some hands on time with both of those devices.
Do you find ZTE’s devices to be compelling? The Star 2 is touting some pretty cool voice control features of the device and the Nubia Z7 comes with a 2K display with some pretty great camera software and a 13MP Sony sensor. While most of the top end smartphones will probably be shown off next month at MWC, we should see some stuff in the wearables department at CES this year and we wouldn’t be surprised to see some come cool stuff in the way of Android TV. Mobile devices are cool and all, but CES is mostly about consumer electronics, and we’re sure to see more of that stuff at CES than anything else, like smart appliances from both LG and Samsung as well as other connected home and consumer electronics products like TV’s, perhaps a smart coffee maker and maybe even some cool home audio equipment. There’s also been plenty of companies showing off their 2015 offerings in the headphones department, as we’ve already seen things like the wireless earbuds from Hearnotes shown off today. So what are you most eager to learn about at CES? Are you hoping to see some pretty cool handsets or are you more excited to see if a handful of new Android Wear smartwatches and wearables pop up? Perhaps you’re looking for a new TV and you want to see what Samsung or LG have to offer you? Let us know what you’re looking forward to in the comments.
