Niantic Labs is following up their popular mobile game Ingress with a new title based on the Endgame universe created by author James Frey. Endgame: Proving Ground will be another interactive, alternate-reality title that has players using their mobile devices to play the game while interacting with the real world. According to Niantic Labs, players will join one of the twelve ancient lines of humanity as they create and customize their character. In a new twist on the augmented reality platform, in Endgame: Proving Ground players will be able to engage in virtual player-vs-player (PvP) battles using their mobile devices. To do so, they will both need to be located near “Key Sites” that will be scattered around the world.
Besides signing up for the closed beta at the AncientSocieties.com site, players can start the process of becoming acclimated to the Endgame world. They will be aided by Stella, a guide who uses videos and challenges divulge information. Players can also start to earn points and achievements that will unlock special bonuses when Endgame: Proving Ground is released later this year.
