Just a friendly reminder that tomorrow is when Google I/O registration begins for this year. It’ll be getting underway at 9am PDT, so for those on the east coast, that’s 12-noon. Google is doing tickets similar to last year, where they are allowing developers to register for Google I/O, then using a lottery system to randomly pick developers that are going to get to attend Google I/O this year. It’s not the most ideal way of doing it, but what else can they do? If they just open it up at 9am for everyone to buy their tickets – as they’ve done in the past – then the site gets bogged down and most people end up not getting their ticket.
Google has a few tips for getting ready for tomorrow’s registration:
Tips to get ready
Make sure you have a Google account. You’ll need to sign into your Google account to begin the registration application process.
Don’t worry, there’s no rush. You’ll have plenty of time to submit your registration application. Applicants will be selected at random to receive the opportunity to purchase one ticket. The order in which applications are received has no bearing on the outcome and remember, only one registration application per person is allowed.
So make sure you are ready for tomorrow morning. We will be at Google I/O this year, so if you’re going make sure you stop and say hey to Android Headlines. Google I/O is May 28th and 29th this year, in San Francisco at the Moscone West Center as usual. We’ll likely be seeing a preview of the next version of Android at this event, as well as updates to Chrome and their other services. Last year the keynote was over 3 hours long, and it’ll likely be even longer this year. But at least it’s all on one day. In previous years, Google would do 2 days of 2+ hour keynotes. Which is still a pain to sit through and live blog.
How many developers out there are hoping to get the chance to go to San Francisco for Google I/O this year? Be sure to let us know in the comments below.
