When it comes to customization with smartphones, Motorola in the past two years has given more choice to the consumer than any other company, thanks to the popular Moto Maker store available in the U.S. and a handful of other countries currently. Moto Maker allows consumers to customize their very own Moto X handset right down to the message that pops up when you boot the device. This was a popular feature for Motorola devices as people loved the idea of making their device a little more personalized and special. Because of this popularity there was some to be expected excitement when Motorola had confirmed that Moto Maker was finally going to be allowing people to customize their Moto 360 smartwatches before purchase.
This has been something that Motorola has danced around since last year, although now it seems the option will finally be available to consumers. That is, in select regions around the globe of course. Currently it looks like when the Moto 360 smartwatch comes to Moto Maker next month, the countries who will get access to personalize their smartwatches will be the U.S., Germany, the UK, France, and Mexico, which are currently the places that have access to Moto Maker already. This doesn’t include Canada, which Mobile Syrup points out in light of a statement made on CNET which mentions that Moto Maker will be available around the world later this month, which is said to be directly quoted from a Motorola spokesperson at Mobile World Congress this week.
According to Mobile Syrup who reached out to Motorola Canada to ask about the statement during MWC, the clarification is that Moto 360 will be coming to Moto Maker later this month but only in the above listed countries at first, having explained that there was nothing new to share about Moto Maker in Canada at this time. Motorola however does hope to have more to share on that at a later time, but for right nothing has been confirmed on the matter. It’s unfortunate that Motorola has left Canadians out of the mix for so long, but hopefully access will end up becoming available sometime before the end of the year.
