Back at Google I/O we got our very first look at Google’s contribution to the virtual reality scene with Google Cardboard. It was a simple little set of parts basically all held together in a cardboard frame, but despite the simplicity of the makeup, it actually held up quite well and it was pretty functional and awesome to use. Even just to experience it for a time. Google may have only given these out to I/O attendees but they also later announced that you would be able to make your own set of Google Cardboard VR kits, and soon after they were even made available to purchase. They actually launched their kit just after Google I/O and have since sold over 15,000 kits, which is quite an astounding number for what the device is.

The best news? the DODOcase VR Kit is now on sale for just $24.95 when originally it was set at a cost of about $45. You were also able to pick up your own materials and make your own kit as we stated above, but DODOcase says they did the math and parts needed had equaled out to the cost of around the original $45 price point. Not only that but you had to be willing to put in the time to cut the cardboard and put the kit together. Personally, I would have just found that to be a fun little project as things like that kind of excite me, but we understand that many people would much rather just pick up a kit that was pre-made and only be required to fit the pieces together. This is why DODOcase’s VR kit is a great little deal because you no longer have to put in any time to cut cardboard on top of fitting things together, but the cost of their kit is also $20 less than the cost of parts.
