The Nexus 9 was built to be one of the best tablets to play games on, aside from the NVIDIA Shield. The Nexus 9 features an NVIDIA Tegra K1 processor, it’s the dual-core Denver chip which is 64-bit and so is Android 5.0. So we spent some time and played some games on it in our review. But we also made a seperate video showing how game play works on the Nexus 9, which is down below. We played Asphalt 8 and Dead Trigger 2. Now some of the audio from the games are gone because of Copyright infringement, so just a heads up there.
From my time with the Nexus 9, it plays games very well. The graphics look amazing on this tablet, even though it is only a 8.9-inch 2048×1536 display. With the larger bezels on the sides, it makes it easier to play games as you have somewhere to rest your thumbs while playing. Which is definitely nice. It’s not that light, but light enough to play games on it for a few hours. But the battery life, not so good. It could definitely be better here. But that’s always been a problem with NVIDIA’s Tegra chips in mobile devices. Just look at the HTC One X, and that’s why I didn’t want the Tegra K1 in the Nexus 6, and very happy we got the Snapdragon 805 from Qualcomm instead.
It’s a great tablet, and super lightweight. With the front-facing speakers, it makes playing games pretty amazing. It’s shipping out from Google Play today, so people should start receiving theirs tomorrow at the earliest, especially if you ordered through Amazon and have Prime shipping.
