Android 5.0 Lollipop Now Rolling out to the Verizon Moto X 2014

Verizon-Moto-X-Lollipop-AH-1

We’ve already seen Motorola pushing out the Android 5.0 Lollipop to the Moto X 2014 Pure Edition, but now it looks like it’s heading out to the Verizon variant as well. We heard over the weekend that the soak test was getting under way, but now it appears to be rolling out to everyone. I actually have it downloading onto my Verizon Moto X right now. So it’s rolling out to those that were not in the soak test, which is great. It is a 678MB download, so it’s going to take some time to download and install onto your Moto X. You’ll want to make sure that your phone has at least 80% battery before attempting to install it, as it can take sometime and the last thing you’ll want to happen is for the Moto X to turn off in the middle of an update.

So now we’ll get to see Material design, and all sorts of other Lollipop features on the Moto X. In fact, some of the features that the Nexus 6 has, it got from the Moto X. Which kinda makes sense since it really is just a bigger Moto X and Motorola made both of them. Kinda surprising to see Verizon getting Lollipop out so quickly right? Well with it being a Motorola phone, it shouldn’t be that surprising. Motorola and Verizon did this last year with KitKat, and while the Pure Edition was first this year, it wasn’t that far ahead. Now we just sit back and wait on the AT&T version to get their Lollipop update.

It’s great to see these updates rolling out so much quicker now then in recent years. Makes it so that we don’t have to have a Nexus to get quick updates, which is a great thing. How many of you on Verizon have the Moto X? have you gotten your Lollipop OTA yet?
